Imaginario Latinoamericano brings together three key works from the recent repertoire for piano trio, all of them written by prominent Latin American composers:

• La Hamaca (2022) – Ricardo Lorenz (Venezuela/USA)
A deeply nostalgic work inspired by the homonymous painting by Armando Reverón. Lorenz evokes Venezuelan memory through polyphonic textures, hypnotic atmospheres and rhythmic gestures that refer to the bagpipes and the Afro-Venezuelan repertoire. It is a sound portrait of identity and memory.

• Trio op. 30 (2013) – Eduardo Alonso-Crespo (Argentina)
With an unmistakable South American profile and nods to tango, this work adopts the structure of a classic trio hidden within a single movement. Expressive melodies, vigorous contrasts and a unified architecture make this piece an essential contribution to the contemporary Argentine repertoire.

• Barroqueada (2020) – Miguel del Águila (Uruguay/USA)
A vibrant suite of eight movements that reimagines the baroque suite from a current Latin American language. Del Águila fuses pavanas, sarabandas and jigas with candombe, milonga, samba and tango, in a fresh, theatrical and rhythmically fast-paced work.

An album that expands the Latin American musical map
With this launch, the Reverón Piano Trio reaffirms its mission to: rediscover and disseminate Latin American repertoire, commission and premiere new works, record and document contemporary compositions, and bring the public closer to sounds that are little represented in the international chamber music scene.
